New Year, New Plans & Reflections

As 2025 begins we are looking forward to making new plans and beginning new crochet and knitting projects. It is really nice to have a fresh start, however we do also have some projects from last year that have been languishing for far too long! I am embarrassed to admit that I have a project that has been a WIP since March 2023.  Upon reflection of last year we would like to make some festive decorations for our home and are slowly work on these throughout the year. We would really like to enjoy our making more and work through our stash. Join us on our crochet and knitting journey where we will share our makes.

Finished Makes:

Caitlin made her first amigurumi, an emotional support chicken using a free pattern from LisaAuch Crochet which she really enjoyed making. She then discovered the world of pattern testing on Instagram and hasn't stopped since. These are the plushies she has crocheted so far:

All patterns are paid for.

1. How adorable is this little lamb! It is a quick low sew make, and the pattern also has a little cow as well.

Pattern: 2 in 1 Lamb and Cow Crochet Pattern by Rachels Crochet House

2. Meet the adorable strawberry bunny. This pattern is a more complex make and does need some sewing. The hat is removable and the other options with the pattern are a heart and daisy. Caitlin used a variegated yarn for the hat and t shirt and it is just so cute.

Pattern: Crochet 3 in 1 Baby Heart Bunny Pattern by Plami Plush.

3. A perfect crochet gift for your loved one is the Valentine Sloth. This was a quick make and a no sew pattern.

4. The Sleepy Baby Unicorn is absolutely adorable. It was a quick make and low sew, with cute embroidered eyes. Perfect for little ones to snuggle up with.

5. Another cute make for your loved ones is the Valentines Penguin. A quick small project that was fun to make.

6. Meet Bella the Ballerina Bunny. This is the biggest and most complex one she has made so far. A really enjoyable make that is a joy to snuggle.

What's On Our Hooks:

Recovery Shawl by Helda Panagary

We both love working on these shawls. The linen stitch is such a simple and easy stitch that is so relaxing. The finish line is in sight for these and we can't wait to finish them to wear this Winter. We decided to make the pockets so that we can use the rest of the yarn in the shawl.

Summer Fruit Pudding Shawl by Lisa Cook

A new exciting asymmetrical shawl that Caitlin is really enjoying. An interesting stitch pattern that keeps you engaged. This is from The Delicious Crochet Shawls book which we have made many shawls from. Using Multicoloured 4 Ply Sock Yarn - Shade Pot Pourri. (Shade is discontinued)

Vintage Crochet Cardigan:

I was shocked to discover that I have been working on my vintage cardigan for almost two years! I would like to be able to wear it this winter so I am really trying to finish it. Work on the second sleeve has begun, but sadly I still have quite a way to go. 😞

Men's V Neck Vintage Crochet Cardigan

Caitlin is making this for her Dad's birthday. It is a lovely simple pattern using the V Stitch.

Amsterdam Shawl by Nancy Said:

These are new shawls that we have just started, it is a simple relaxing pattern repeat. A good beginner project. Caitlin is using Panda Crypto 8 ply in Pink Bluebird and I am using Moda Vera Valley Yarn in Swan

Christmas Present Sack by Natalie Beard:

I have been working really hard on my sack and have almost completed the red section and am looking forward to changing to the green and making the bobbles on the top.

We both have birthdays in the Winter months and decided to make each other a hot water bottle cosy as a birthday gift. This pattern is so fun to make and I just love all the bobbles. I am using a colour changing cotton cake.

Knitted Twinset

Caitlin has started knitting a gorgeous twinset using a pattern from Patons Book 1224. This is the top using Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 5ply in the cranberry colour.

Until next time, happy crafting.
